Le Navi dello Stoccafisso - The Stockfish Ships

A conference about the building of four ships just after the Second World War. The job was commissioned by the "Norwegian Sheepowners" company to shipyard Fincantieri of Ancona. Negotiations for the construction of the four ships dates back to 1946 and the delivery was carried out from August 1949 to June 1950. Those were years of recovery both for Norway and for Italy.
Norway was reconstructing its fleet, in particular these ships were needed to connect the fjords (the so-called Hurtigruten). At the same time the contract was very important for the resumption of the activities of Ancona Shipyard. The ships are known in Italy and Norway as "the stockfish ships". Because of the difficult international monetary conditions, part of the compensation of the ship's value was paid with some batches of "stockfish", dried cod that still today ties Italy Norway.

Etter foredraget serveres italiensk baccala' (cash only).
